Refund Guard is a specialised feature available at ShareTrip that provides financial protection to travellers by offering refunds on the non-refundable portions of ticket costs and service charges under certain conditions.
Refund Guard is provided by Bimafy, and ShareTrip is widening its availability to a much broader range of travellers through its platform. With Refund Guard, ShareTrip makes it easier for travellers to adapt to sudden changes without financial stress.
What Services Are Available Under the ShareTrip Refund Guard?

Eligibility and Terms of ShareTrip Refund Guard
Beneficiaries
The service is available to all Bangladeshi travellers booking through ShareTrip, whether they are travelling domestically or internationally.
Applicability
The protection applies only to flight bookings and the Refund Guard feature must be added during the initial booking process.

Submission Window
Insurance claims must be submitted with all required documents within 15 days of the Covered Event using the claim portal on the Bimafy Website/Mobile App.
Documentation Requirement
Travellers must provide valid proof for the cancellation reason (e.g., medical certificates, employer letters, death certificates, etc.) when submitting their claim.
Covered Expense
Refund Guard applies to the cost of non-refundable flight tickets purchased through ShareTrip. Additional service fees, taxes, and surcharges associated with the ticket purchase are also eligible for refund under this plan.
Covered Events
The following circumstances are covered under ShareTrip Refund Guard, provided valid documentation is submitted:
- Medical Emergencies: Sudden illness or injury that requires hospitalisation or rest, certified by a medical professional.
- Bereavement: Sudden passing of an immediate family member.
- Legal Obligations: Summons to court or jury duty.
- Unexpected Work Commitments: Urgent business trips or employment-related obligations requiring a change in travel plans, certified by the employer.
- Flight-Related Issues: Sudden changes such as flight cancellations due to airline-related problems (only applicable if the airline does not offer any form of compensation).
Exceptions
While Refund Guard offers broad coverage, certain scenarios are not covered, including:
- Pre-existing Conditions: Illnesses or medical conditions that existed before the booking was made.
- Self-Inflicted Injuries: Injuries or illness caused by reckless or intentional actions.
- Political or Governmental Issues: Cancellations due to government actions, protests, or political unrest, unless explicitly covered by the airline.
- Voluntary Cancellations: If a traveller decides to cancel their trip without a valid reason.
- Natural Disasters: Force majeure events such as earthquakes, floods, or other natural calamities that are outside of the control of the service provider.
How Does the ShareTrip Refund Guard Work?
- Opt-in During Booking: Travellers can add Refund Guard for a nominal fee at the time of booking their flight on ShareTrip.
- File a Claim: In case of a valid cancellation event, the traveller must initiate a claim within fifteen (15) days of the incident. Claims can be submitted through Bimay’s app or website by providing necessary documentation such as medical reports, employer’s letters, or legal documents, etc.
- Refund Processing: After the documentation is verified, Bimafy will process the refund, reimbursing within thirty (30) working days.
